Hello there,
To avoid split ends, there are some prevention steps that we can take.
Lots of love!
I've always had problem with split ends. Right after my high school I started coloring and hi-lighting my hair just for a change and then I started getting addicted to hair dyes, perming products, straightening chemicals and what not. I knew that I was welcoming split ends but what I didn't know was how bad they could be and what harm they could do to my hair. So five years after that I was done playing with chemicals and I wanted a healthy hair which seemed impossible because of how bad my hair had become. The only thing I liked about split ends was that I could literally pass my whole day playing with split ends and pulling them separate.
No one would want to hear this but everything we do to make our hair look beautiful causes split ends. We cannot fix them, but we can definitely prevent them. Once we get split ends, the only way to get rid of them is to cut them off, so we should be very careful how we're treating our hair. I would say that we should take care of our hair as we do our face.
To avoid split ends, there are some prevention steps that we can take.
- Avoid blow drying and heat styling as much as you can, and if you cannot give it up, definitely use a lower heat setting and apply a heat protection spray or serum.
- Trim your hair every six to eight weeks. You can even do it yourself at home; do not use blunt scissors because they damage the ends and cause more split ends.
- Your hair is more vulnerable when it is wet so do not brush wet hair. You could use a wide-toothed comb instead while wet and for dry hair use natural bristle brush.
- Regularly deep condition your hair and more frequently if you have a very dry hair. It'll help to regain the lost moisture and keep your hair healthier.
- On a very sunny day, if you are not going to wear a hat, use shampoo with sunscreen or a leave-in conditioner to protect your hair from sun damage.
These steps have helped my hair grow better than what it used to be. So no more spending my time playing with split ends; I'm rather using it to do something useful. Thank you all for reading. Have a great day.
Lots of love!
